Getting There. From the junction of Utah Highway 24 and the Goblin Valley Road, drive south on Rte 24 about 1/4 mile to a signed dirt road 

Bluejohn Canyon (often mistakenly referred to as "Blue John Canyon") is a slot canyon in eastern Wayne County, Utah, United States. It is on BLM land just south of the boundary of the Horseshoe Canyon Unit of Canyonlands National Park. THE CANYON Meander downcanyon. A nice slot is downclimbed with ease, and then a larger drop is encountered. Rappel 40' or so off a log or other natural anchor into the narrows. (This rappel can be avoided by walking around on the right). The canyon is interesting and narrow for quite a ways - climb, clamber, stem and squeeze downcanyon. Bluejohn Canyon in located in Southeast Utah in a region known as Robbers Roost. The canyon is named for a semi-notorious old west outlaw that used to hide from the law in this and nearby canyons. John Griffith had one brown eye and one blue eye that earned him his nickname Blue John. Blue John Arch Aaron Ralston made Blue John Canyon famous. He became trapped there in May of 2003 when a rock shifted and pinned his arm in the lower section. Five days after becoming trapped, he amputated his arm with a small knife and freed himself.
